Terms of Service

1. Agreement to these terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Cairn mobile application ("App") on iOS or Android, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). These Terms are a legally binding agreement between you and Cairn ("we," "us," or "our"). If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Description of the service

Cairn is a faith app that helps you:

• Capture prayers and gratitude by voice or text, and set a gentle revisit;
• Pray the ACTS pattern — Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication;
• Read or hear a daily declaration rooted in Scripture;
• Ask, and sit with Scripture, with crisis safety that points you to real human help;
• Revisit prayers and mark how God moved, watching stones turn to gold;
• See a weekly reflection and your year in Faith Wrapped;
• Use home-screen widgets and companion voice.

Your entries are encrypted on your device. Cloud sync and sharing are optional and off until you enable them.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Cairn, or older where required by your local law. If you are under the age of majority, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.

4. Accounts and authentication

You can sign in with Apple or Google. Your data is kept per account. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for activity that occurs under your account. Notify us at support@mycairnapp.com if you suspect unauthorized use.

5. Subscriptions and payments

Free

Cairn is free to use, including capturing prayers and gratitude, the ACTS prayer, the daily declaration, Ask, and revisiting your path.

Cairn+

Cairn+ is an optional subscription that unlocks unlimited memory and cloud backup, weekly voice reflection, Faith Wrapped, companion voice for every declaration, and every Scripture translation — with a 7-day free trial.

• Cairn+ is billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play and managed by RevenueCat.
• Your subscription auto-renews unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings.
• Except where required by law or store policy, payments are non-refundable for partial periods.
• Prices and features may change; we will give notice of material changes where required.

6. Your content and privacy

Your prayers, gratitude, reflections, and Ask conversations are yours. You retain all rights to the content you create. You grant us only the limited permission needed to operate the features you use — for example, to sync your encrypted content if you enable cloud sync, or to generate an AI or voice response when you request one. Our handling of your information is described in our Privacy Policy.

7. AI features and no professional advice

Cairn's Ask and related features use AI to meet you in Scripture. They are offered for spiritual encouragement and reflection only.

• Cairn is not a substitute for professional medical, mental-health, legal, or pastoral advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
• If you may be in crisis, Cairn points you to real human help. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services.
• AI responses may be imperfect; use your own judgment and seek qualified guidance for important decisions.

8. Scripture and intellectual property

Scripture is presented in the translation you choose and is used under license from its respective publishers; those rights remain with their owners. The Cairn name, logo, design, and software are our intellectual property and are protected by law. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our branding without permission.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose;
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, except where permitted by law;
• Interfere with, disrupt, or place undue load on the App or its infrastructure;
• Attempt to access another person's account or data; or
• Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the App or its content.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including reliability, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or availability, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cairn shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App shall not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the preceding twelve (12) months or USD $50.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Cairn harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the App or your violation of these Terms.

13. Changes to these terms

We may modify these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

14. Termination

You may stop using Cairn and delete your data at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the service and its users. Sections 6 through 12 and 15 survive termination.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [your jurisdiction], without regard to its conflict-of-law principles, and the courts of that jurisdiction will have exclusive authority over any dispute, except where local consumer law provides otherwise.
